Welcome to De Zilveren Reiger
We are Marcel and Wilma. Since March 2024, we have lived in our charming historic building, De Zilveren Reiger. This fulfilled a long-held dream: running a B&B in our own home. And what a house… We never imagined we would live in a beautiful historic building like this! We love sharing this not only with our son Rick (19) and cat Nick (17), but also with our guests.
We enjoy meeting everyone’s needs as much as possible, creating a personal, homely atmosphere, and giving everyone an unforgettable experience.

I have worked in mental health care for many years, but I also have a passion for history and culture. In the centuries-old city of Middelburg, I thoroughly enjoy all its antiquity. The monuments, the city’s architecture, but also the culture.
Culture, both old and new, is something I enjoy, as I enjoy a good concert, a beautiful museum, a great performance, or a fun party, and I love sharing it with guests.
In my City Bike Tour ‘Experience Zeeland’, I aim to show people the city’s highlights during a pleasant bike ride, sharing facts and fables from centuries past.
Wilma
Born and raised in Middelburg, I know the city like the back of my hand. I enjoy sharing not only the historical sites but also all the shops with our guests.
Caring is also in my blood. Besides my work in elderly care, I’m passionate about making people feel comfortable and at home.
I highly value authenticity, honesty, and quality, and I strive to reflect this in both our rooms and the local, high-quality products served at breakfast.
